Bargaining Update – #19

Further to our last update, your CUPE 1063 Bargaining Committee has met to discuss the current status of bargaining and our next steps.

On Wednesday February 8, 2023, your Bargaining Committee sent the following email to the employer:

Good morning,

This is further to our discussions with the employer on January 20th and on February 3rd, 2023 regarding the employers request for additional time to respond to the union.

The Union bargaining committee has met and it was agreed that the employer has until Friday February 24, 2023 to respond.

If no adequate response is received, the Union will consider us at an official impasse and we will review next steps with CUPE National.

Thanks,
Bob Sawchyn

As indicated previously, we hope that the employer has heard our members concerns regarding the hard work they complete and our request for a fair offer in these extremely difficult times but rest assured that all members of CUPE 1063 are prepared to fight to obtain what we deserve.

Your Bargaining and Strike Committee are fully prepared to move forward. This includes our financial relationship with CUPE National and details of a communication program if bargaining with the employer breaks down.

Further communications will be sent once we hear from the employer or our deadline passes.

More than ever, this is the time that we must show our solidarity as a local. The time to fight with this employer is unfortunately now. We must show our commitment to our cause along with future challenges that this employer brings to the table. We all know that more is coming!

In Solidarity,

Your CUPE 1063 Bargaining Committee
