Bargaining Update – #17

Your Bargaining Committee has met with the employer several times since our last update.

At the time of the Information Rally held on November 8th, the employer’s proposal for new language that would increase contracting out of our members’ jobs was a key concern. Since then, the employer has taken that proposal off the table. While the proposed concession was not something the Bargaining Committee would ever have agreed to, its removal does allow us to focus on other issues such wages and benefits.

The last update noted that the parties were still far apart on wages. While there is still a considerable gap, there has been some moderate progress in that area.

We are hopeful that the recent progress is at least moving us towards an acceptable wage offer. However, we must stay prepared for any eventuality. To that end, our Strike Committee is undergoing training and we have secured a space that could be used as a strike headquarters should that need arise.

As of now, further sessions are scheduled to begin in mid-January. Members will continue to be informed on all important developments.

In Solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee
