Bargaining Update – #16

First of all, thank you to all the members who participated in the Information Rally on Tuesday, November 8th. Overall the event was a great success. Most observers estimated around 200 in attendance, including a large portion of our members plus those from many other unions. We were also privileged to have speeches from MFL President Kevin Rebeck and Manitoba NDP Leader Wab Kinew in support of our Local.

Following the rally the employer requested a previously unscheduled day of bargaining, held yesterday, Wednesday, November 9th. The main issue discussed at the session was wages. There is still a considerable gap between the two sides on that issue. Further sessions are planned for next week and the week after.

Your Bargaining Committee will continue to negotiate with the aim of reaching a settlement we believe is worthy of putting before the membership.

Once again, thank you for your display of support at the Information Rally and the many messages of support you continue to provide to the Bargaining Committee.

In Solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee

Our friends at the Amalgamated Transit Union posted a video of the speeches on their Youtube channel. Check it out here!
