Bargaining Update – #21

Your Bargaining Committee met with the Employer at 2:30pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023. At that time, the Employer presented their final offer.

The offer was disappointing based on our previous discussions with the Employer on what we saw as a fair contract for our members. As this is the Employer’s final offer, your Bargaining Committee will do its due diligence and further consider all options.

Current CUPE by-laws state that the Bargaining Committee must make a recommendation to the Union Executive for a final vote on our next action.

We hope to be able to update you further in the next 7 – 10 days on your Union’s position and outline in greater detail what our next action will be.

As we have indicated numerous times, your Union has been preparing for ALL possibilities as we move through this round of bargaining. We recently completed Strike Captain training with CUPE National which we believe is the final piece to be completed in the event that strike action is required.

You have worked hard for this Employer including giving when they have asked which includes our last round of negotiations. YOU HAVE DONE YOUR PART!

Now is the time for CUPE1063 members to stick together and show their solidarity to this Employer. Members should remember that every time they visit the grocery store to feed their family, go to the drug store to buy medical necessities or just try to supply the quality of life that they feel their family deserves, what this Employer feels you are worth.

In Solidarity,

Your CUPE 1063 Bargaining Committee
