Unpaid Overtime

COMMUNICATION TO MEMBERS REGARDING UNPAID OVERTIME

It has come to the union’s attention that some of us may be working unpaid overtime to catch up on our workload.

We understand that a lot of you, especially in Case Management, have unmanageably high caseloads and workloads. This is a result of numerous reasons, all which have been brought to the attention of the employer recently.

We have requested that the joint Workload Committee convene to discuss the issues in Case Management. We realize that there may be issues in other areas and we would like those who have concerns regarding their departments workload to reach out to a CUPE 1063 Union Executive.

We realize that each of you take great pride in offering exceptional customer service and keeping their workload in order but giving the employer free overtime will not solve the issue.

There are factors presently that are out of our control that may continue to increase the workloads. The current Acting V.P. of Human Resources agrees that free overtime is not the way out of this. This only disrupts your work-life balance.

If you feel that additional work needs to be done on your desk, please speak to your supervisor or manager and request paid overtime.

If this is denied, then please contact me or a member of your CUPE 1063 Executive Committee so we may review this with upper management.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us as we navigate this major issue with management.

Thanks
CUPE 1063
